چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Catheter thrombosis remains one of the major complications hemodialysis. Superhydrophobic surfaces are suggested to be capable creating an energy barrier that prevents cells proteins from contacting with catheter surface directly, making less thrombotic. Fluorinated graphene (FG) is a superhydrophobic material. It has been applied create self-cleaning surfaces. also shows good biocompatibility. Based on these features FG, we prepared FG coating hemodialysis attempting reduce clinical thrombotic events. Method suspension was made in solution 95 wt.% ethanol, 5 deionized water 3 1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane (POTS, C14H15F17O3Si). Immediately following plasma activation, segments 1 cm²(Gamcath, GDHK1325) were spray coated both inside outside lumen. Samples air-dried for later use. We tested hemolysis rate, platelet activation adhesion performances, partial thromboplastin time (PTT) FG-coated samples. Test performed isotonic extract direct contact fresh rabbit blood respectively. Platelet according ASTM F2888-19 standard assessed by scanning electron microscope. PTT assay F2382-18 standard. Results hydrophobic angle 150° (Figure 1a). reduced 83.5% per 100 μm² area avoided 35.86% loss when compared uncoated 1b, 1c). rate than 2% test 1d). The sample 88.92±1.31s versus 83.03±9.49s yet no statistical significance (P>0.05) 1e). Conclusion great hemocompatibility. Though significant improvement observed assay, still significantly adherent activated catheter, which seems promising Yet, more tests needed performed, antithrombotic ability fluid state needs further confirmed study.

Influence of nanoporesize on platelet adhesion and activation.

In this study we have evaluated the influence of biomaterial nano-topography on platelet adhesion and activation. Nano-porous alumina membranes with pore diameters of 20 and 200 nm were incubated with whole blood and platelet rich plasma. Platelet number, adhesion and activation were determined by using a coulter hematology analyzer, scanning electron microscopy, immunocytochemical staining in ...

Properties of fluorinated graphene films.

Graphene films grown on Cu foils have been fluorinated with xenon difluoride (XeF(2)) gas on one or both sides. When exposed on one side the F coverage saturates at 25% (C(4)F), which is optically transparent, over 6 orders of magnitude more resistive than graphene, and readily patterned. Density functional calculations for varying coverages indicate that a C(4)F configuration is lowest in ener...

Targeting platelet GPIbβ reduces platelet adhesion, GPIb signaling and thrombin generation and prevents arterial thrombosis.

OBJECTIVE The glycoprotein (GP) Ib-V-IX complex regulates the adhesion, activation, and procoagulant activity of platelets. We previously reported that RAM.1, a rat monoclonal antibody directed against the extracellular domain of mouse GPIbβ, diminished adhesion of platelets and chinese hamster ovary cells transfected with the human GPIb-IX complex to von Willebrand factor under flow conditions...

Patterning Nanoroads and Quantum Dots on Fluorinated Graphene

Using ab initio methods we have investigated the fluorination of graphene and find that different stoichiometric phases can be formed without a nucleation barrier, with the complete “2D-Teflon” CF phase being thermodynamically most stable. The fluorinated graphene is an insulator and turns out to be a perfect matrix-host for patterning nanoroads and quantum dots of pristine graphene. The electr...

Monocyte functional responsiveness after PSGL-1-mediated platelet adhesion is dependent on platelet activation status.

OBJECTIVE Acute coronary diseases are characterized by elevated levels of circulating platelet-leukocyte complexes, raising the possibility that proinflammatory processes might be initiated in leukocytes after platelet adhesion. Here we examined the mechanism of platelet binding to polymorphonuclear leukocytes, monocytes, and monocyte subsets and investigated the potential functional consequenc...
